Grove Hill and the Lone Tree will be the focus of a significant public open space provision in the form of a country park. Covering nearly 12 ha, this public green space will provide a place to enjoy the outdoors and experience nature in an informal semi-rural park setting and will be fully accessible by the public. It is proposed that a small car park will be provided for the country park off Church Road. This will mean those living a short distance away that might visit the park by car will not have to drive though the existing settlement or the areas of new homes. It could also provide additional parking for St Peters Church.

The Lone Tree, located on the top of Grove Hill, is a local feature that would be retained as part of the proposal. Indeed, it will be a key feature of the proposed country park. As such it will receive specific attention to ensure its continued growth and health.

Schools are important community facilities and Stonnall has the benefit of a school set in the heart of the community that did very well in its last Ofsted inspection and has a very good reputation locally¹. However, it is understood that the school operates below capacity and a good number of the pupils are from outside the Parish. The age profile of Stonnall means that the number of primary age children is likely to fall in the future which could have a detrimental effect on the viability of the school. The proposal would bring new families into the village that would help secure the future of the school.
